Comfortable communication is;
The difference between people who communicate at ease and people who don’t; people who communicate with space and peace take care they are up to date with the data, information or knowledge they are responsible for.
No extraversion required,
no particular title, senior – or management function required,
no communication course or experience needed,
only the basic confidence you keep up with your core task.
The confidence you know what’s exactly going on for your work, the data, the results, is the main result of the keeping up/‘BIJ zijn’ (Dutch) routine.
BEing able to present the results, the current status of your project(s) and the progression made, anytime.
To comfortably communicate you only need to BE up-to-date, so you can;
#1 Implementing your keeping up/’BIJ zijn’ routine.
#2 Conducting your keeping up/’BIJ zijn’ routine every workday again
#3 Only catching up on any backlogs or other stuff after you’ve kept up/’BIJ bent’ (Dutch)
And you don’t need to change or add additional, new communication skills. Because keeping up/’BIJ zijn’ provides space to add some YOU in your communication. No matter what your natural communication style is, e.g. kind of ‘direct’, easy going, relaxed, introverted, sensitive, extraverted, ‘lots of words’ or ‘big and bold’, if you assure you know your data inside out, you automatically add that personal touch people (unconsciously) attract to.
Can you pick up all your calls with a smile?
