Hier klI've experienced frustration... Like the gap between de data I've listed and the conclusion in the final document. Or the balance of working longer days to meet deadlines while noticing the needs of my family. Or the conflict between the dossier I went through and what was (not) used forward. Where, in other situations, I do NOT compromise. Not today, not in the past, neither in the future.
What prevented me from stepping up for my truth then?
Clarity about how I wanted to work. What work habits align my best performance.
Furthermore, I didn't always say what was needed to be said. I guess I couldn't imagine people, including myself, being capable of finding a better way. Which resulted in quitting too soon. While not achieving what was ready to get realized. Especially when conflicting interests were involved.
Since then, I learned a lot. Amongst others, I figured out how to welcome obstacles, which of course, no doubt, will arise. And how to deal with these. To be able and gain the determination to realize a better opportunity. Connecting all people involved. This said, I believe that if you care for what you do, you are able to surpass inevitable hurdles too. In a way that all people involved, including yourself, feel proud of the result they've accomplished together.
3 tips to care as you are:
TIP #1: Get crystal clear about how you want to work. How many hours, days, when undisturbed and undistracted, what access you need, mentored directly by management yes or no, allowed to invest in professional development (for which I strongly recommend result-driven coaching programs), which responsibilities, how much travel, congresses. Maybe now you feel you don't have enough professional experience yet. Even then, decide from where you want to be. Find out how you want to work. How you work best.
TIP #2: What’s most important for you, the organization, your clients today? What is most impacting or enjoyable now? Go for it. After you've finished your work daily routines of course :-). Mine today is to check if I kept the light, playful and loving tone I want to spread in my posts.
TIP #3: Get out of your own way. Say what’s need to be said. Don't hold back on your truth. However, for some of us, including myself, it's best to have a good night's sleep and decide the next morning if we still feel to say what we need to say ;-).
If you care, do step up. The world needs you to advance your career. And be aware that you can enter your next level, and gain true impact, without any need to compromise what you care for!
